Schluter-DITRA-HEAT-DUO is an uncoupling and waterproofing membrane with an integrated bonding fleece that provides sound control, as well as a thermal break. Optionally, the system can be customized with floor heating cables to create a warm, luxurious tile floor. Schluter-DITRA-HEAT-DUO integrates customizable, comfortable electric floor warming with the functions of DITRA: uncoupling, waterproofing, vapor management and support to ensure a long lasting installation. DITRA-HEAT-DUO features an integrated thermal break to reduce impact sound transmission through floor-ceiling assemblies, reduce heat loss to the substrate, and improve floor warming response time. Controlling impact sound transmission through floor-ceiling assemblies in multistory construction can present challenges, particularly when ceramic and stone tiles are used. DITRA-HEAT-DUO reduces sound transmission, while supporting the covering to ensure a lasting installation. DITRA-HEAT-DUO combines the flexibility of loose heating cables with the ease of installation of mat systems. Cables can be placed wherever heat is desired, without creating height differences in the floor. Self-leveling compounds are not required to encapsulate the cables, significantly reducing installation time and effort. DITRA-HEAT-DUO provides uncoupling through its geometric configuration, which allows for in-plane movement that effectively neutralizes the differential movement stresses between the substrate and the tile, thus eliminating the major cause of cracking and delaminating of the tiled surface. DITRA-HEAT-DUO provides reliable waterproofing. Its polypropylene composition protects the substrate from moisture penetration, which is particularly important in today’s building environment where most substrates are moisture-sensitive. The Cable Monitor is a continuity tester, which is easily connected to the heating system, and immediately sounds an alarm and shows a red light if the cable is damaged in any way during the installation of the radiant heating system or of the floor.
★ HOW DOES IT WORK? The Cable Monitor constantly measures the continuity of the floor heating cable. If there is a break in continuity, the Cable Monitor immediately alerts you with a loud alarm and a red warning light.
★ HOW IS IT CONNECTED? Each lead wire from the floor heating cable is connected into the connection points on the Cable Monitor. Tighten the screws to hold the wires in place. Set the switch to the “on” position. The green light will light up if it is connected correctly. The red light and alarm will alert you if the connection is loose or if the heating system has been damaged.
